The Vesica Piscis:
Mirror of Consciousness
In sacred geometry, polarity can be understood through the vesica piscis, the name for a geometric relationship between two interconnected spheres. The vesica piscis shows the relationship between two equal opposites that are connected by their centers.
This is the root of all energy and creation: man/woman, hot/cold, light/dark, electric/magnetic...even magnetism itself...
Two intersecting circles (spheres) connected by their centers contain all the proportions necessary to create:
- all of the polygons found in nature
- the five "Platonic” Solids
- The square root of 2, 3 and 5
- the foundation of geometry and trigonometry
- LIGHT
I suggest drawing this design to gain a full understanding of this information! The center of your second circle can be located anywhere on the first circle, but make sure it falls EXACTLY on the line. Observe how these two circles fit together perfectly. Does this shape look familiar to you?
In elementary school, they used this figure in my classes as a “Venn-Diagram” or a way to compare the relationship between things. Coincidence? ;)
It is one of the most important symbols to understand, as it is the portal to life itself!
Within the two circles is an almond-like shape that you can emphasize/ extract. Take a closer look at this shape!
- Vertically, it takes on the shape of a cosmic womb or birth passage. It also resembles a cosmic egg.
- Viewed horizontally, it reveals a cosmic eye.
(Its interesting to note that Christianity incorporated this symbol as the fish of Jesus. Perhaps this is symbolic of the infinite divine life force that is contained within this sacred shape.)
When two things come together, they creates an energy that is greater than the sum of their individual parts. This is the essence of synergy…
